Hi bloggers,
At the moment in
literacy we are writing a essay and this week we had to make a draft copy so here is mine
essay
Food waste draft
I'm looking at Food waste. Because I think a lot of people like me and you waste food because of putting too much on their plate or in their lunch box. So I will make a change right now! Who’s with me?
With Food waste I think people need to limit what they are putting on their plate because there are too many people going without food and the basic’s so if we limit what were putting on the plate all the waste can go to them. People will die less often because they will have food to stay alive.
Food waste is popular these days because of people using to much food at dinner time, I’m not trying to make you starve but I think we only need what we eat so only put something little on your plate and keep going back for seconds so you will know when you are full and you won't leave heaps on your plate. If there are any leftovers you could freeze it or it can go to those people who can’t afford it and then there will be no waste or we could just eat insects which wouldn’t fill us up but there will be no waste so that's a positive.
Planning tips
Make your shopping list based on how many meals you’ll make at home. Only buy what you need for those meals. Include quantities on your shopping list noting how many meals you’ll make with each item to avoid overbuying. Look in your refrigerator and cupboards first to avoid buying food you already have.
Storage tips
Find out how to store fruits and vegetables so they stay fresh longer inside or outside your refrigerator. Wait to wash berries until you want to eat them to prevent mould.
Don’t keep food in the fridge or freezer too long or it may not be alright to eat but will be great for lunch the day after or a few days after.
Prep tips
When you get home from the supermarket, take the time to wash, dry, chop, dice, slice, and place your fresh food items in clear storage containers for snacks and easy cooking. Freeze food such as bread and meat that you know you won’t be able to eat in time. Cheeking your fridge and freezer often to make sure food hasn’t expired.
Final tip
Shop in your fridge first! Cook or eat what you already have at home before buying more.
